Obituary

Ms. Alcelia Brown favorably known to many as “Little Lisa” was born
in Chicago Illinois, on January 25, 1964 to Alphonso Sr. and Beverly,
who both welcomed her into heaven. Alcelia accepted Christ at a very
young age where she attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church
with her grandparents. Alcelia loved the Lord and as an adult,
Alcelia continued her spiritual journey fellow-shipping with many
congregations.
Alcelia was a woman of elegance and class. She was
devoted to her family and very shielding of her children.
She enjoyed being in the company of family and friends.
Alcelia sang like a beautiful humming bird singing the
lyrics of her favorite musical artists “Chaka Khan and
Mary J. Blige.” She loved to shop and dance (Steppin) in
her high heels that glided her cool moves across the dance floor. Alcelia aspired to achieve and when
on a mission, she never quit until the mission was accomplished. She was known to many for her
beautiful smile, humble soul and forgiving heart.
Alcelia earned her education within the Chicago Public School System. She attended Fredrick Von
Schiller where she graduated and went on to attend Senn High School. After earning her diploma,
Alcelia was accepted into Malcolm X College where she earned an Associate Degree in Counseling.
Alcelia was very proud of her sobriety and as a way to give back, she worked in the field of
substance abuse, sponsored newcomers and was a motivational speaker sharing her story.
Alcelia transitioned this earthly life on July 7, 2020, surrounded by her family.
She was greeted at heavens gates by: Her parents; paternal grandparents, Alphonso Sr. and
Ernestine White; maternal grandmother, Ruth Brown; great aunt, Mable Finley; two brothers,
Kenneth and Allan Ray; uncle, Gregory; and aunt, Hitomi.
She leaves to cherish: A special step mom, Janice; four daughters, Elizabeth, Felicia, Delores and
