Obituary for Alice Delois

On September 10, 1959, God gave a beautiful baby girl, Alice Delois, to the
late Rev Lee Edward & Rev Mother Ollie Mae Howard, in Tuscaloosa, AL.
She was the third of their five children.

In 1965 she moved with her family to Chicago to live a blessed life.
She attended Tilton Elementary School and Lucy Flower Vocational High School.
Alice was a great sister to her siblings. She was their protector and had a nice
left hook when needed. Alice was a big sports fan. If you saw Alice out and
about you saw her in her Cubs wear. She loved to crack jokes and keep everyone
smiling. Alice loved to bring her family and friends together. In 1981 Alice
married Curtis Smith. She enjoyed planning cookouts and always made her fa-
mous potato salad and deviled eggs. Alice was also a walking sweet shop. She
believed in putting smiles on the faces with a little treat to add. Many could say
she was the reason their dental bills were so high.

Alice was a proud Mother and Grandmother. She loved her children, but her
Grandbabies were the beginning and ending to all things for her. She would
move mountains to make them happy. Alice had a giving heart, if she could help
you she would and she did! Alice accepted Christ at an early age. She was bap-
tized at Prince of Peace MBC under the leadership of the late Rev W.L. Upshire.
She was a faithful lifetime member! She served in the choir and recently joined
the Mother Board.

Alice was always active. She never allowed her health or anyone to limit her, It
could never be said that she lived a boring life. Up til the end she was a fighter.
When the doctors told her there was nothing else they could do she said, Naw
the God I serve has a plan for me and he aint done with me yet! And she kept
that faith and strength. On Wednesday March 4, 2020 God held out his hand
and said Servant well done and welcomed his angel home. Alice leaves to cherish
two children, Alycia Howard and John (Lauren) Gray. 4 Grandchildren Jontae
Howard, Delilah Dyer, Alaina Gray, and John Gray IV. 3 Sisters Margie (John)
Stewart, Margaret Howard, and Taffy Howard, 1 Brother Edward Howard, 2
Great Aunts Mary Frances Boles and Mattie Lavender, 1 Aunt Peggy Brown and
3 Uncles Willie (Ora Lee) Howard, Sam Howard, and Elmer Howard, and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family.
