Obituary for Andrew Lee Hooker

Andrew Hooker was born January 10,1950 in Lexington, Mississippi to the late Calhoun and
Ollie Hooker. He was a graduate of Marshall High School and attended Malcolm X Junior
College in Chicago, Illinois. In his youth, he attended St. Paul Church of God in Christ, where
Bishop Louis Henry Ford was pastor. Andrew knew the importance of being saved and
accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Andrew had several jobs during his youth (worked at a butcher shop across the street from his
home on California Avenue and Sears Roebuck). His longest tenure on a job was with
Continental Can, where he retired. He had an impeccable work ethic and patience to work
under pressure. He was loved and respected by his coworkers.
Andrew was very active in sports such as golfing
and bowling. He had a heart of gold and a smile
that would melt your heart. Andrew exemplified
warmth, dedication, and would make jokes to keep
you laughing. He loved being around family,
friends and always welcomed everyone with open
arms.
On Saturday, September 4, 2021, God called him
to his eternal home.
The celebration of his life will be continued by: His
devoted fiancé, Heida Curry; his son, Andrew Jr.
(Andy); his daughter, Shawnya; his godson,
