Obituary for Ardella Hayes

Ardella Hayes was born on September 14, 1924 to the union of Will Chris and
Annie Maude Lewis in Homer, LA. Ardella was the fourth of five children, her
parents, and three siblings preceded her in death.
Ardella confessed to Christ at an early age.
Ardella received her early education in Homer, LA and graduated from Magnolia
High Training School in Darnell, LA. After arriving in Chicago, she furthered her
education at Malcolm X College, where she studied early childhood development.
Upon settling in Chicago, IL, Ardella met and married Ivory Hayes, who preceded
her in death. Ardella gave birth to eight children, two of them preceded her in
death.
Ardella joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of
Rev. W.D. Kirkland, later Rev. Michael Runnels, and currently Rev. Dr. Charles A.
Hamilton. Ardella served on many auxiliaries and was a faithful member until her
health started to fail her.
Ardella would work many jobs until she would pursue her career at the Chicago
Board of Education. From there, she worked at Hugh Manley High School and
William H. King Elementary School.
Ardella enjoyed life. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and her
soap operas. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and would watch every game.
Talking on the phone was her favorite pastime.
God saw she was weary and on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 she was called
home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: Three daughters,
Glenese Blue, Mary (Howard) Dunlap and Almarine Hayes of Chicago, IL; three
sons, John (Valita) Hale of La Cruces, NM, Louis Meadors of Pensacola, FL and
Luther (Michelle) Hale of Chicago, IL.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children
and 19 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pernella Pugh of Chicago, IL; long
time friend, Ms. Rose Ard; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and
friends. She will truly be missed by all who loved her.
Everyone has that one person that’s their “person” that person for
me was my grandma. She was my protector and my comfort.
She was always there to listen to my good news and
my shortcomings, she was my cheerleader, and she was my shoulder
that allowed me to cry whenever I needed to.
My heart is in pieces, and now I cry more than I ever did but not
just because I miss her; I cry tears of joy thinking about all of the
great memories I've shared with her over the years.
She may be gone in the flesh, but she is still with me daily in spirit,
whether it be her scent, her laugh, or her firmness.
I know she’s still there protecting and
loving me every step of the way.
~Nikki.
You know all that I dealt with. You know that things happened
that were beyond my control.
Please help me to accept what I can’t change.
Help me turn my worry time to prayer time.
Please help me so these things don’t steal my joy.
Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you.
I gave you my stress. I gave you my disappointments.
I gave you my frustrations and sadness and asked for your peace.
May your will be done in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
~Renie...
