Obituary for Betty Jean Turner

On September 15, 1956, Betty Jean Turner was born the
3rd of 10 children to Katherine Turner and Henry McGroin in
Tchula, Mississippi. Betty is preceded in death by her parents
Katherine and Henry, one sister Henrine and two brothers
Jim and Billy.
At an early age Betty and family moved “west “and made
Chicago their home.
Betty earned her high school diploma from Manley Career
Academy High School.
Betty processed a Spirit of “Help”! Helping others was her
passion which made sense that she would land a career as a Homemaker. That career certainly
came naturally as she was the mother of five beautiful girls and one handsome son.
At any given time, you will find Betty swaying her hips, snapping her fingers and moving her
feet to a Smokey Robinson medley. And if that was not the case you dare not interrupt her
while she relaxed on the couch and watch a “GOOD OLE WESTERN” movie.
At a young age she was Baptized and received our Lord, Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Betty’s faith was made strong as she quoted, read and lived by what was known as her favor-
ite scripture “Psalms 23”.
On Sunday, June 20th the trumpets blew, God Spoke and Betty answered the clarion call.
“Come on my child and I will give you rest. You have an assigned mansion with YOUR name
on it”.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory: Five daughters, Cathy, Catina (William), Cherese, Catrice
(Steve) and Cynthia (Darwin); one son, Robert; one sister, Virginia; five brothers, Henry,
Richard (Romerda), Michel, Tyrone and Darryl; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great
grandchildren; one aunt, Julia Blake; one goddaughter, JoAnn Evans; one sister/best friend,
Carrie Davis; and a Forever Love, Roy Lee Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and
friends.
I often stand and think about the years that have passed by
The happiness and joy that was shared by you
I think of all the laughter the smiles and all the fun
Before I know it my tears have once again begun.
Although it brings me comfort to walk down memory lane
It reminds me how without you, life will never be the same
You’re an amazing grandmother, mother, sister and friend
~Love Always, Your Grandchildren
Sabrina, Carissa, Alyshia, Shamonica, Shamiah, Caleb

Dear Grandma we love you. You was so sweet and beautiful
and kind. You brought us together as one, strong like a rose
vine. You showed and taught us right. How to pray and let the
Lord guide us through the days and nights. We cry tears of joy
and celebrate as you spread your wings and fly, praising and
worshipping in Heaven. As you go on your new journey with
the Lord, keep protecting us with your love for you gave your
best, so go in peace.
~From your seed, Chrerese, Jean, Desmond,
Margese and Destiny
We’ll cherish you forever and ever… Amen

Mommie, mommie, mommie, this pain that I’m enduring is like non other. Mommie I’m
so hurt. Mommie I understand to be absent from the body and to be present with the
Lord. Mommie I know it is appointed to man once to die. Mommie I miss our morning
talks, what I would do just to hear your voice, see your beautiful smile, receive a tight
hug and a kiss on the lips and you saying to me “I love you Lee and I’m so proud of
you”. Mommie what I would give just to have you here with me but I know you at a
place where we long and strive to get to, that place Jesus went to prepare for us, a
mansion the place of ultimate contentment and fulfillment. Rest well my love,
my forever girl, my PYT, I love you so so so much Mommie.
~Love Always Your Baby Girl, Lee, Cynthia Rogers
Our Beautiful Grandma,
We want to start off by saying thank you. Without you none of us would be possible.
Thank you for all the sacrifices whether it was long hours in the kitchen, watching us so
that our mom could work, being the life of the party and the life line of this family. Words
can’t describe how much we are going to miss you but we know you will forever live in
our hearts. We love you so much and we gone make sure to live our lives and accomplish
what you want us to. Love you forever and always beautiful queen.
~Your two grand babies, Tyshawn and Darrione.
We want you to know that you will be forever missed and loved, especially those big
hugs and wet kisses. We will never say goodbye, but see you later grandma.
~Love, Corey, Ashely, Erica and Malik
