Obituary for Calvin Thompson

Calvin Thompson’s life journey began on July 17, 1947. He was born to the late B.B.
Thompson and the late Francis Wood-Thompson, in Rayville, LA.
Calvin accepted Christ at a very early age in Rayville, LA. He attended Antioch M.B.
Church, under the leadership of Pastor Cooper. After moving to Chicago, he united
with 1st Baptist Church of Bellwood, under the leadership of Pastor Ingram.
Calvin’s early childhood education began in Richland Parish School System, located in
Rayville, LA. It was in Rayville that Calvin also attended Eula D. Britton High School.
Calvin’s love for his family led him to Alpha Baking Company in Chicago, IL. After
more than 30 years of service, Calvin retired from Alpha Baking Company in 2009.
On the early morning of Saturday, January 29, 2022, the curtain was closed on the
temporal life of Calvin Thompson and he entered into another celebration of life.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents; mother, Francis Thompson and father, B.B.
Thompson.
He leaves to treasure and cherish endless fond and precious memories of a life well
lived: His loving wife, Jennie Thompson; daughter, Lashanda Thompson; sons, Kerry
Thompson and Terrance Thompson; grandchildren, Laniah Thompson and Johnathan
A Jones; two sisters, Viola Williams (Melvin, deceased) and Louise Thompson; four
brothers, BB Thompson (Annie Mae, deceased), Glasper Thompson (Renee), Henry
Dawson and Eugene Thompson (Marva); two brothers-in-love, Matthew Pleas (Elenor)
and Johnny Pleas (preceded in death); two sisters-in-love, Della Jean Please and
Loucille Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
