Obituary for Carnelia Coleman

Carnelia Coleman was born in Batesfield, Mississippi to the late Lonnie
and Virgie Pitts. Carnelia Coleman was affectionately known as Connie to
family and friends. Carnelia was married to Wash Coleman for 38 years,
who affectionately called her Kidd.
Connie confessed her life to Christ at Christ Temple Church of Apostolic
Faith in Maywood, IL under the leadership of the late John P. Bellamy Sr.
Connie attended Porter Ferry School in Batesfield, MS. She later educat-
ed herself and became a self-made woman. Connie loved her family and
friends and would do anything for her loved ones.
Connie worked at National Can Company in Elk Grove Village for many
years, until her retirement. Connie was also an entrepreneur of many small
businesses.
Connie was home with family when God called her home on December 8,
2020. She is preceded in death by: Her mother and father, Lonnie and
Virgie Pitts; one daughter, Virgie Kelly; one son, Derrick Kelly; three
brothers, Robert Pitts, Walter Pitts and John Pitts; and two sisters, Jilleen
Swanson and Mary Pitts Blackwell.
Connie leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband, Wash Coleman; four
daughters, Michelle Kelly, Tabatha Kelly, Kenyatta Brown and Washlina
Walker; one son, UIysses Coleman; four sisters, Lennie Powell (Albert),
Bonnie Pitts (Earl), Linda Pitts and Marsha Davis (Andrew); one brother,
James Pitts; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
