Deborah Davis was born December 28, 1933 in Stoddard County,
Missouri to the union of Elijah and Emmer Cooper, both of whom have
preceded her in death. Deborah was blessed with 10 siblings: 4 sisters -
Rose Powell (deceased), Katie Powell, Josephine (Harold) Scott, Betty
Cooper; 5 brothers - Elijah Cooper Jr. (deceased), Esau (Minnie) Cooper
(deceased), Jacob Cooper, Joe (Muriel) Cooper (deceased), Billy (Dora)
Cooper, and Kenneth (Gayle) Cooper.

Deborah met and married Robert Emmett Davis (who preceded her in
death) in Bernie, Missouri; they were married 54 years and to this union
five children were born. Her third child, Curtis Robert Davis preceded her
in death.

She was a true believer in Christ. She was a faithful member of New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church on the North side of Chicago. She later moved
on to St. Michael’s Missionary Baptist Church on the West side. Finally,
she joined United Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wilson
Daniels; she really loved to hear him preach.

She loved to work in her garden. She would share vegetables with people
passing on the street. She also loved listening to Gospel music. One of her
favorite songs was “I’ve Been in a Storm too long” by The Mighty Clouds
of Joy.

Deborah was called home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Deborah leaves to cherish her memories: Two sons, Willie (Cynthia) Davis
of Chicago, IL and Charles (Vivian) Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two
daughters, Emma (Willie Frank Speed) Davis and Sharon (Elijah) Harris,
both of Chicago, IL; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren,
three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and
friends.

Deborah was a beautiful, caring soul, and she will truly be missed
