Obituary for Edward Watkins

Edward Roy Watkins was born on December 22, 1956, to Edward Hill and Dorothy
C. Watkins in Chicago, Illinois. Both of whom preceded him in death.
“Roy”, as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and was
raised Methodist.
Roy was raised in the Cabrini Green Homes. He attended Franklin Elementary
School and Wells High School. After graduating from High School, Roy enlisted in-
to the United States Army, serving for 12 years at various locations.
Roy was involved in a near fatal auto accident on Germany’s Autobahn in 1985
and was honorably discharged from the Army at that time.
Roy departed this life peacefully on the morning of December 2, 2019.
Roy is preceded in death by: sister, Joyce M. Jolliff; and brothers, Leonard Watkins
and Andre Watkins.
Roy leaves to mourn his passing: Three sisters, Nannette Watkins, Sharon Blake
(William), and Alora Christon (Glen); one uncle, Raymond Taylor Sr. (Della) of San
Antonio, Tx; seven nephews, Gregory Watkins (Carol), Donald Watkins, Darnell
Campbell, Andre Watkins, Phillip W. Huley III, Christopher D. Huley, and Deandre
Watkins; eleven nieces, Adrianna Thompson, Diana L Wilson, Scherrolynn Watkins,
Michelle Watkins, Schellyce O’Neal (Terrence), Trina Thompson, Laquisha Lipscomb,
Portia Wells, Andrea Watkins, Latiqua Watkins, and Robin Watkins; a host of other
family members and special friends.
