Obituary for Edward Reynold Gipson Sr.

Edward Reynold Gipson Sr. was born at 9:49 a.m. March 18th, 1954 at Wesley
Memorial Hospital Chicago, IL to the union of the late Renzie Gipson Sr. and Emma
Kay Gipson. Edward affectionately known as “ED” attended Frederick Von Stuben
Metropolitan Science Center where after four years of education he graduated ob-
taining his High School Diploma in June of 1971.
Edward continued his education by going on to College where he received his associ-
ate’s degree in Applied Science Engineering Technology/Computer-Aided Design
graduating in 1989 from Triton College. Edward met a woman by the name of
Janice Borner the two fell in love and by 1974 they married, and from their love Ed-
ward and Janice were blessed with two children (Edward R. Gipson Jr. and Albert
Gipson).
In hopes of creating a better life for not only himself but his family as well, Edward
moved from Chicago spending time in Connecticut where he met and found what
would eventually become his second wife, “Yvonne” the pair married in 2006.
Edward worked as an Architectural Engineer for Knight Engineers and Architects for
a number of years, until falling ill and was no longer permitted to work.
Edward was an activist in the Community sharing his love for the game Tennis, he
taught the sport to younger generations, alongside his cousin Gary Gipson
(Deceased) the two promoted and hosted skating events for the youth, Not only to
learn but to provide a safe environment for them to be kids have fun and enjoy life.
Around Thanksgiving Edward along with his two sons Edward Jr. and Albert got to-
gether to feed the homeless.
May 31st 2020 Edward had developed a condition which left him paralyzed from the
neck down but through all of it he continued to fight, until his body was weary and
on June 11th 2021 at 5:18 p.m. God called another one of his sons home.
Edward leaves behind to cherish: Two sons, Edward R. Gipson Jr. and Albert Gipson;
four grandchildren, Arianna Crockett, Alyssa Marshall, Essence Gipson, and Edward
R. Gipson III; a brother, Renzie Gipson Jr., two nephews, Renzie T. Gipson and David
Gipson; two ex-wives, Janice Gipson and Yvonne Perry-Gipson; and a host of rela-
tives and friends.
