George Hilton Lumpkin Jr., affectionately known as Blu, was born on February 25, 1950, to the union of Vivian and George
Hilton Lumpkin Sr., in Chicago, Illinois.
George was raised in an extremely loving home on the south side of Chicago. He flourished under the leadership and dynamic
marriage of a military father, George Hilton Sr., and an extremely compassionate and fiery mother, Vivian Louise. His family
life was full of love, laughter, good food, good music, and most of all, a true sense of unity. It was within the walls of his
home and upbringing where George found his early identity not only as a big brother to 4 siblings, Patricia, Vincent, Earl and
David, but also as a brother to his first cousins, Herbert, Steve, Anita and Renee. Being the leader of the pack was so natural
to him. His charisma, charm, intellect, instinct, and innate ability to problem solve would later serve him well in his career.
After graduating with honors from Pontiac Central High (Michigan), George would go on to achieve multiple accomplish-
ments including study at Truman College of Chicago. There was nothing he couldn't do. He walked in the footsteps of his
accomplished father and honorably served in the military. Aside from that, he mastered computer science, and served top cor-
porations in data processing. George tested his natural cooking abilities and even earned a chef title. He would
then dominate as an entrepreneur and launched his own cleaning company. His later career would be that of a maintenance
engineer, and once again, distinguished himself as the best. His talents were truly limitless.
George was a giver. He blessed us with wisdom ranging from his personal world travel, down to how to prepare a nutritious,
home cooked meal.
George would later meet his best friend, soulmate, right hand and rib Geraldine Yates. On December 29, 1993, they would
unite in holy matrimony.
With his wife Geri at his side, George's fierce love of God would develop. He became a loyal member of The Lord Of Host
Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Larry V. Mitchell, previously, Pastor Aaron Richardson. As his faith
intensified, it propelled him to many leadership roles within the church, including Reverend. This is truly where he started his
life over, and until his last breath, proclaimed God's word. It's inarguable that of his many titles, George was most proud of
being called a child of God. The seeds of faith had been planted by his grandmother Harris, and furthered nurtured by his life-
long mentor, Mr.Lewis. In the midst of the journey, his best friend and brother of over 56 years, Roy Peeples, would share
this transcending and transformative version of his lifelong buddy.
His special village, known endearingly as the "Yates" (Geri's family) made a permanent and positive impression on his life as
well. They held George in high esteem and now stand strong on his memory.
Like his legacy, we can stand strong in faith knowing he is indeed, in a better place.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and George H. Lumpkin Sr., along with two brothers, Earl and Vincent
Lumpkin and 2 sons Derrick and Isaac Jr.
George leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and loyal wife Geraldine Lumpkin, Mother-in-law, Dorothy Yates, siblings

bers, colleagues and friends too numerous to name.
