Obituary for Glenn Jackson

Glenn Edward Jackson, “Houseplay”, was born in Indianola, Mississippi on May 17, 1957 to
the proud parents of Perthine and Charles Thomas Jackson. Three sisters; his beloved twin
Glender Faye, Betty Lue and Chenette; stepfather, John Howard; six nephews and one great-
nephew; two grandmothers, Johnnie Mae Smith and Christine Singleton all preceded him in
death.
When the family relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1963, he attended Howland and Ryerson El-
ementary schools through 1970.
Glenn received Christ later in life. He worked mainly summer jobs, along with a few election
jobs.
Glenn was hilarious. He loved to be around his family and friends. He enjoyed family func-
tions, when you came around “Houseplay” you were in for an amazing time, with a great hu-
mor from his soul.
Glenn loved his blues, when he went home to visit Indianola, MS (Church Street), he would
walk and sing Howling Wolf. He didn’t harm anybody, he had love in his heart. Chicago Ave-
nue was another stomping ground, where he and his friends would hang around. Now he is
with Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Glenn leaves behind to cherish his memory: Mother, Perthine Jackson; four sisters, Nadine
(Richard), Gail, Chrissy and Elaine (Bobby); two brothers, Johnny (Marie) and Anthony; one
uncle, Willie Lee Shepard and one aunt, Betty Lue Fuller, both of Indianola, Mississippi; seven
nieces and seven nephews; forty-eight great nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and
friends, including special brother, Lanell Williams.
