Obituary for James Thomas

James Thomas, aka “Sonny,” was born on May 21, 1949 to
the late Mary Thomas. James received his education at Crane
High School. He later attended Malcolm X College where he
received a BS Degree in Arts & Science.
James moved to Chicago, IL in December 1959. He joined the
work force, working for the Hyatt Hotel as a steward until he
retired in 2016.
James loved to tour all around the city. He had a passion for
collecting comic books during his teenage years. His first book
was “Archie” and he still had over 100 or more, carefully
preserved in plastic.
James is preceded in death by: His mother, Mary Lockhart;
and sister, Linda Fite.
He leaves to mourn: Sisters, Grover Jean Byrd, Frankie Hill,
Veola Banks (William), Josephine and Doris Johnson (Michael);
one brother, Jerry Lee Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
He has left behind great memories with family and friends
which will live forever
