Obituary for Joe Nathan James

Joe Nathan was born on March 28, 1955 to Earl and Flossie James.
He departed this life on October 23, 2020 after a short illness.
His father, Earl; mother, Flossie; brothers, C.D., Larry and Jonathan plus his sister,
Fannie preceded him in death.
Joe Nathan attended Tilton Elementary School and graduated from Austin High
School in 1973.
He worked for Garden City Envelope Company in Chicago. Also, he worked for oth-
er manufacturing facilities as a forklift driver over the years. In 2017, he retired
from United Cargo at O’Hare Airport.
Joe Nathan married Katie Moore. He loved his children and grandchildren and took
pleasure in choosing and buying things for them. The hospital staff commented that
he “really loved his grandchildren”.
He enjoyed communicating with family and friends; often he started a conversation
with “Hello, hello”. Joe Nathan sent early morning Facebook messages. He liked
birthday celebrations and encouraged others to remember milestone birthdays.
As a child, Joe Nathan watched old western movies with his Dad and Sister Gerald-
ine. He maintained this love of westerns and old cartoons like Casper, the Friendly
Ghost throughout his life.
Joe Nathan leaves to cherish: Katie, his children: Anton, Aisha and Nate; grandchil-
dren: Arviyanna, Arvontae, Arviyonce, A’Marion, Natasia and Mariah; siblings, Dave
Wilks, Lillie (Walter) Hopkins, Geraldine James, Darnell (Marilynn) James; a special
friend, Jacqueline Threatt as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
