Lester Coleman was born October 9, 1938 in Chicago, IL to
Emma Green and John Lester Coleman. He was preceded in
death by his siblings Lillian Taylor and Edith Goff and his parents.
Lester served in the Military Branch of the Army. He enjoyed
listening to his music, the oldies and visiting family and friends.
Lester leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, family and
friends.
When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to
see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears,
be happy that I have had so many years. I gave you my love, you
can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love each has shown, but now it is time
I travel on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that
we must part, so bless the memories in your heart.
I will not be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me,
call and I will come. Though you cannot see or touch me,
I will be near and if you listen with your heart, you will
hear all of my love around you soft and clear.
Then, when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and welcome you home.
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each
scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets
of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods
of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow
or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed
you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that
during the most trying periods of my life there have only
been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you
most, you have not been there for me?” The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
in the sand, is when I carried you.”
