Lillie Louise Moore was born in Sledge, Mississippi, on May 23, 1938 to Mr. Joseph and Mrs.
Rosie Ann Dunbar. She was the fourth child of seven children, four brothers and two sisters.
The family moved to Chicago when Lillie was three years old.
Lillie married the love of her life, George Moore, April 25, 1958. To this union, nine children
were born. George preceeded her in death in 2004.
Lillie attended Webster Grammar School and graduated from Wendell Phillips High School.
Lillie loved her family and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was a strong wom-
an, who did not mind letting you know how she felt. She went to great lengths to make sure
her children were well educated. Lillie was an awesome, mother, wife, grandmother, sister and
aunt.
Lillie was a busy woman. Even though she had her hands full raising nine children, she was a
member of many organizations, namely; the Million Women March, Westside Connection,
Crane Local School Council, where she also helped to start the school clinic, Nash Local School
Council and CAPs, to name a few. She also was the President of the Ferdinand Block Club.
Lillie was preceded in death by: Her sister and brothers, Tleass Ellis, Joseph Dunbar, Roscoe
Dunbar, Clarence Dunbar and James Dunbar; and four children, Tyrone, Georgia, Romonia and
Latrina.
Lillie leaves to cherish her memory: Her children, Denise (Robert), Conetha, Gloria, Judon
(Katrice), and Devon; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
friends and relatives. She also had 3 special childhood friends that were very dear to her;
Chantel, Mary Baldwin and Tut.
Even though her physical body is gone,
her spirit will live on in our hearts forever!!
Grandma, today I thought of you
but that’s nothing new.
I think of you in silence
I often speak your name
Now all I have is memories
and your picture in a frame
My love for you will never change
In my heart you will remain.
~Jocelyn

I was Mommy’s first daughter-in-law. I am so glad we had a chance to really talk.
She told me how much she loved me. She shared some of herself with me.
We actually talked for 2+ hours, back in February, a week before Tye passed.
I will hold that conversation in my heart forever. I told her that I thought she hated
me and I didn’t know what I had done. She helped me to understand a couple of
things, and it was needed. I am forever grateful to God because she was well
and in her right mind
~Love Katrice
