Lorinson Stephens Sr. was born on June 5, 1945 in Holly
Springs, Mississippi to the union of Mr. Willie Stephens and
Katherine Stephens; whom both preceded him in death. To
this great union, nine children were born and Lorinson, best
known as “Low” to his family and friends, was the third child.
Lorinson received his formal education in Holly Springs, MS.
His life exemplified one who loved the Lord; he confessed a
hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized.
Lorinson relocated to Chicago where he met the love of his
life, Christine. In the month of December, they were united in
Holy Matrimony and to this marriage six children were born
plus one of 53 years together.
Lorinson was employed by the Chicago Board of Education and worked in the Chicago Public
Schools for 40 years, until he later retired.
Lorinson was a member of Holy Temple True Church of Christ, He later joined New Beginnings North
Shore Church under the leadership of Pastor Karl and Lady Angelia Adair.
Lorinson loved playing his favorite blues songs and he loved traveling the highways out of town with
his wife and children. Lorinson loved to dance and would bust a move at any family gathering or
party. Lorinson loved going to church concerts, singing and praising God with his favorite gospel
quartet groups.
Lorinson made his peaceful transition at his home, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: Daughter, Tammy Terrell Stephens; grand-
daughter, Brittany Hill; and brothers, Charles Stephens, Lee Eddie Stephens, Marvell Stephens and
Joe Earl Stephens.
Lorinson leaves to cherish all his wonderful memories: His wife, Christine Stephens; his children,
Verniece Stephens Hill (James), Karen Manning (Antwon), Tiffany Stephens (Demetrius), Sherritha,
Lorinson Stephens Jr. (Michelle) and Charles Fitzpatrick; his brothers and sisters, Willie Jr (Mable),
Mary Johnson, Della Mae Jones (Bishop), Ervin (Delores) and his sister-in-law, Ruthie Stephens, all
from Holly Springs, MS; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother-in-law and special aunt,
Lorian; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow church members
and his uncle, Elliott Coleman.
