Lucinda Young was born to Dave Young and Lucy Kyles on July 30, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois.
Lucinda attended Crown Grammar School and Montefiore High School. She attended and completed
her CNA training program. Upon completion she received her CNA Certification.
While going through life’s journey Lucinda began to visit St. Luke Church of God in Christ.
From 1997 until 2008 Lucinda was employed at Fourth Presbyterian Church as a cook.
On October 17, 2021 at 12:20 pm at Northwestern Hospital, God sounded the trumpet and told
Lucinda to put down her weapon the fight WAS OVER! The battle was
won, it was time for her to rest from her labor. God opened Heaven’s
Gates and allowed Lucinda to walk in.
Lucinda’s parents, Dave Young and Lucy Kyles; her siblings, Hester Moton,
Thomas Fisher, Raymond Fisher, Gracie Young, Ronald Young and Thelma
Randle; nieces, Paulette Moton and Elaine Young; and nephews, Harvey
Young and Robert Johnson all preceded her in death.
Lucinda leaves to mourn in her passing: her son, Ricky Young (Stacy); her
sisters, Lucille Johnson (Robert), Linda Young, Loretta Richardson (Arthur
Bill), Vanzelia Young Smith (Johnny) and Roslyn Fisher; brothers, Darnell
Young (Patricia-Pat), Joseph Young (Joyce), Demetris Fisher, Samuel Fisher
and Ricky Fisher; brother-in-law, Billy Randle; auntie, Lucy Mae Kyles;
uncles, Theodore Kyles, Joseph Kyles and Edward Kyles; and a host of
cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, along with her
favorite cousin, Chris and her favorite nephew-in-law, Eugene Gary.
For many years Lucinda was the family babysitter for her siblings, helping
with the care and raising of her nieces and nephews. It was some of those
same nieces and nephews that helped take care of Lucinda when her health
began to fail. Lucinda loved playing and listening to Blues songs, especially
her favorites, “Mom’s Apple Pie” and “My Last 2 Dollars.” It was Lucinda,
along with her siblings that introduced her nieces and nephews to the Blues
and Old School Music. Lucinda loved having parties and having a great
time with family and friends. Even in pain Lucinda found a way to smile and
to keep a sense of humor. Lucinda will be truly missed!
Don't grieve for me for now I'm Free.
I'm following the path God laid for me,
I took his Hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, to laugh,
to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with time or sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life has been full. I've savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free.
When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not here to see. If the
sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me.
I wish you wouldn't cry the way you did today. While thinking of
the many things we did not get to say.
I know how much you love me as much as I love you. Each time
that you think of me, I know you will miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me, do not think we're apart. For
every time you think of me, remember I'm right here in your heart.
He will wipe away
every tear from their eyes,
and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning,
nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.
