Obituary for Margaret Winters

Margaret Winters was born April 28,1951 to Mable Hudson and Sumon Tucker in Canton,
Mississippi. Both parents preceded her in death. She was the fourth child of six. Three of them
preceded her in death, Jessie Lee Thompson, George Hudson and Larry Hudson.
Margaret confessed Christ at an early age at Buckhorn Missionary Baptist Church in Canton,
Mississippi. Margaret moved to Chicago, IL in 1982 and joined Sunrise Baptist Church in 1983
under the leadership of the Late Rev. Edmond Jones and the current pastor, Rev. J.E. Storey. She
was a faithful member of the Usher Board for many years until her health complications.
Margaret completed her education in Canton, Mississippi. She worked at Ryerson Elementary
School as a teacher’s aid. She was also a dedicated foster parent as well.
Margaret always had a smile on her face. She was known for her sweet and sour chicken at
family functions and being the candy lady at church. She loved everybody she met.
Margaret gained her wings on November 12, 2021 at 1:06 pm.
She leaves to cherish her legacy: Two daughters, Markeisha (Cornelius) Tolliver and Sharara
Winters; two sisters, Barbara Worthy and Mary Hudson of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren, Jakira,
Janiya, Jayceon, Aaliyah, Shurnee, Jaliyah, Kaliyah, London, Darryl and Jamarion; two best
friends, Ethel Lee Hudson and Ann Walker; one aunt, Lucy Hudson; and a host of amazing nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
The Angels grabbed Margaret’s hand and said, “servant well done, it’s time to come home.”
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God as chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another
day, to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I’ve now found
peace at the end of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, be not burdened with times of sorrow. Look for the sunshine
of tomorrow. My life’s been good, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief, don’t lengthen your pain with undue grief.
Life up your heart and peace to thee, God wanted me now-
He set me free.
