On a hot summer day August 23, 1950 in Natchez, Mississippi, Mary
Elizabeth Thomas made her debut onto the world stage. Ira T. Thomas
and Ira Bell Thomas were the proud parents of the beautiful baby. Mary
was the oldest of her siblings.
Mary was a kind hearted, loving, generous, private, family oriented and
never complaining individual.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age.
Mary was reared and educated in Natchez, Mississippi, and that’s where
she started her own family.
Mary, being a strong individual, was always looking to better herself and
her children. She relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1975, searching for
better employment. Mary worked various jobs throughout her life, her
last employment being at Loyola Hospital where she retired from after
several years of service.
Mary’s son, Curtis Thomas; her parents; and three brothers, Tyler, Darryl
and Kirby all preceded her in death.
Mary leaves to honor her memory: Three children, Helen Theresa Thomas
Blake (Robert), Kenneth Thomas and Mary M Thomas; eight grand-
children, Shalonda, Andrea, James Jr., Arthur, Iesha, Martel, Daray and
Laquisha; twelve great-grandchildren, Dymond, Arionna, Eliona, Dacmoni,
Kecmontae, Arthur Jr, Jeremiah, Daray Jr.,Messiah, Malachi, Marcus and
Angel; two brothers, Walter Lee and Willie; three sisters, Jessie, Judy and
Hannah; her best friend and companion, James Williams Jr.; special
cousin, Barbara; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Thank you, HEAVENLY FATHER for Mary E. Thomas.
