Obituary for Mattie "Williams" P

Mattie P. Williams was born on September 27, 1954 to George and
Minnie Williams in Aliceville, Alabama. She was the third child, “the baby”
she called herself. Both parents preceded her in death. Mattie P. Williams
had two sisters, Mary Dancy and Georgia Sterling (Both preceded her in
death) and one brother, Howard Miniard.
Mattie P. Williams was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age.
She graduated from Aliceville High School in Alabama. She later moved to
Chicago, IL where she attended Loop College and graduated with a Clerk
Typist Degree. She also earned many certificates afterwards. She was
employed at Chicago Read Mental Health Center until she retired, where
she met many life long friends. Mattie loved doing Black History month
at her job.
Mattie was a very loving and caring person, who always put people first and put herself last. Anything
that was asked of her she gave and more, and never asked for anything in return. Mattie loved to talk
and had an amazing memory. She loved spending time with her granddaughter. They stayed at the nail
shop. Everyone that mattie came in contact with, she considered them family (cousin, brother, sister,
etc).
Mattie P. Williams departed her life on February 15, 2021.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memories: One son, Anthony Williams (Darnice Hightower); two grand-
children, Jalise and Jonell; one brother, Howard Miniard; six special children, Terry (Jennifer) Sterling,
Patrick (Nichelle) Sterling, James (Samantha) Sterling, Franklin (Trevon) Sterling, Vivian Sterling
(William P.) and Paula Weaver; one special brother, Joel (Doreatha) Degraffenreid; one special sister,
Edna Sauls (David); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
