Obituary

Nancy Mays “Pat” was born on May 13, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. She
was the second child born to the union of Sammy Mays and Rosanna
Mays.

Nancy was known to many as “Pat” in which she was given the name
when she was a baby because her toddler sister couldn’t pronounce the
word pacifier. Instead she would say “Give Pat, Pat, Pat, her Pacifier”;
and therefore, the family nicknamed Nancy “Pat”.

Nancy lived most of her childhood on Long Island, New York and later
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she attended Rezin Orr High School. It
was there where she developed her love for arts and science; and won a
Science Award at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

For many years, Nancy worked for Javon Perfume Company. After
which she later gained employment at Jackson Hewitt and became an
Office Manager. Nancy had a passion for cooking and enjoyed dancing.
She loved to talk with her family and friends. Nancy also had an out-
going personality and she loved to laugh.

Nancy fell asleep in death on February 15, 2020 at 6:20 am at Rush
University Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her son Samuel
Mays, brothers Clinton Earl Mays and Dion Allen, sister Sheray Mays,
and niece London Rose Felton.

Left to Cherish her memory are: Her daughter, Tiana Melton; partner,
George Mack; father, Sammy Mays; mother, Rosanna Mays; sisters,
Delores Mays, Rhonda Mays and Latoya Allen; brothers, Sammy Mays
Jr., Lavelle Allen and Brandon Foster; and a host of grandchildren,
aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and friends.
