Ora Bell Covington, known as Ms. Cadillac, went to be with the Lord peacefully on January
21, 2021. She was born on January 30, 1943 to her parents, Aron McCarthy and Pearlie
McCarthy of Belle Sumpter, Alabama. Ora confessed Christ at an early age and joined
Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Ora Covington graduated in 1961 from Central High School in Akron, Ohio. She went on
to further her education at Harvard College where she received her degree, graduating in
1969.
Ora met and married Charles Covington and moved to Chicago, IL, where they had their
only son, Kendall Covington.
Ora began employment at Borg Warner in Bellwood, IL as a Key Punch and Office Practice
Operator. She worked there for 38 years, then went on to work for Comfort Keepers. She
worked as a caretaker for the elderly, working for them for six years.
Ora began being a foster mother for another six years. She worked hard all her life to take
care of her real estate and her one and only son, Kendall.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her son, Kendall Covington; grandchildren, Precious
Covington, Kendall Covington, Jr. and Kelsey Covington; great-
grandson, Cartier; three sisters, Ruby Avery, Wanita Nowle and
Ann McCarthy; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends.
