Obituary for Peter Gold

Peter Sylvester Sims, was born December 13, 1958,
in Tarawa Terrace, NC, to Roosevelt Sims and Annie
Sibley Sims. He was the ninth of sixteen children and
confessed to Christ at an early age. As a child and
young adult, Peter loved to smile and took a liking
to dressing in the finest clothes. His love for his
appearance and his flashy clothes lead to him being
known as “Peter Gold”.

Peter attended the Chicago Public School System
where his love for knowledge began. He leveraged the
knowledge he received from books, his street smarts
and his gift of gab to become a mentor and counselor
at CeaseFire.

The advice he gave to those was encouraging, positive and practical. Outside of work he
enjoyed spending time with family and friends. With his charming personality, the first one
to jump on a dance floor and his charming smile, resulted in him never meeting a stranger
that wouldn’t become a friend. Peter’s last smile was on September 11, 2019, at his home.
He is preceded in death by his father (Roosevelt Sims), mother (Annie Sims), brothers
Roosevelt, Henry, Baby Johnnie, Darrel and Reginald, and sister Roberta.

Forever cherishing his memory are: Four children Tyquila Sims, Jame’al Sims, Shanketer
White and Peter Sims Jr. Grandchildren Taliyah, Jame’al, Samiir, Sallah, Niya, Simeon, Jalen,
Kedden, Nazaliah, Gianni and Peter III. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends
including his three brothers Oliver, Arthur and Albert, six sisters Hilda, Dorothy, Hazel
(Peter), Alberta (Charles), Tina and Linda, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host
of friends, including life-long friend Donna Ryals, beloved friend and ex-wife Janice Dodson
Sims.

I’m more of my father than I thought I would be. More of a dad is something we both
wanted to be. I could always feel his spirit and his blood runnin through me.. That same
blood I am proud of until GOD comes for me. My dad is something similar. I have faith
in his legacy and everything he’d ever done even tho it’s something I’d never seen!
I will always have faith that even though his trials whatever it may be and may they still
find a way to be a blessing to me. I guess you don’t have to be a dad or father to still be
able to teach. My perspective is respective to the utmost degree... loss of love without
love is something so deep! To be your son always made me feel I was something to
be. I’ll carry your name and still spit yo G! Next time it’s gone be different when
we re-meet! Love YOUR OLDEST SON may you rise in peace...
