Richard Lamont Spears was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 13, 1959. He
was born to Ethel Mae Thomas and Noel Spears-Bey, who preceded him in death.
Richard was raised as her own by Mary C. Spears.

Richard graduated from Austin Career Academy High School in Chicago, IL.
He held various career positions, but his latest was as a butcher from Butcher & Lar-
der, from where he retired in January 2018.

Richard was the oldest of five siblings. He had four sisters, Demetria (Gardner) Wil-
liams, Pleshette (Oshonte) Spears, Kenisha Spears and Noreshia Spears.

Richard departed this life on November 6, 2019. He is preceded in death by
his parents and his son, Richard Lamont McCarthy (Kojack).

Richard leaves to cherish his memories: His loving mother, Mary C Spears; four
daughters, Katrina Blair, Yolanda “Tweety” McCarthy, Leticia “NeNe” Spears and
Jasma Spears; four stepchildren, Nathan McCarthy, Latoya McCarthy, and the twins
Markell (Caleisha) and Marvelle McCarthy; four sisters, Demetria (Gardner) Williams,
Pleshette (Oshanté) Spears, Kenisha Spears and Noreshia Spears; one special nephew
that was with him until the end, Kevin Spears; and a host of grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, family and friends, including the guys from his crew.
