Obituary for Virginia Watson

Ms. Virginia Watson was born on August 7th, 1922 to Leathie McClain and Walter Watson in
Ebenezer, Mississippi. Virginia was the oldest of seven children born to this union. Viriginia was
known to many as “Ginny.”
Virginia confessed hope in Christ at the age of 12 years old in 1935. She confessed this hope at
Holy City M.B. Church in Holmes County, Mississippi, under the leadership of Rev. S.H. Jones.
After moving to Chicago, Virginia united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the
leadership of Pastor W.H. Daniels in April 1990. Virginia loved the Lord and kept the faith until
she took her last breath. Her daily scripture read was, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.” Psalm 23:4
Virginia attended Glassy Grove School in Ebenezer, Mississippi.
Virginia worked for Alden Clothing Manufacturing Company. She loved working with people and
was very talented and skillful. Her talents were Cosmetologist, Seamstress, and Fashion Designer.
Her specialty was making hand-made hats and clothing. In her spare time, she spent time talking
on the telephone with all her family and friends. Most of all she loved all her Family dearly along
with everyone she met. Virginia was a giver. She loved giving to others, and never wanted any-
thing in return.
Virginia was born into eternity on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 at 11:17am in her home.
Preceded her in death was both of her parents, Leathie McClain and Walter Watson along with all
of her siblings, Inez Deener, Mary Lee Smith, Eudora Thomas, Eudonia Watson, Jelemia Steele,
and Samuel Watson.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memories two children; daughter, Helen I. Kinnard and son, Warren
G. Bingham. Virginia loved her two children very dearly and brought them up in a very nuturing,
loving, and God-fearing home. She also leaves: Five grandchildren, LaVonna Loving, Tiffany
(Randy) Bingham-Alexander, Elisheba (Clifton) Bingham, Mia (Adrian) Bingham and Heather Bing-
ham; fifteen great-grandchildren, Pierre Loving, Helen P. Loving, Samuel Joe III, T’leia Joe, Pierre
F. Feaster, Myla Feaster, Jamal Poindexter, Marina Brown, Tyler Gordon, D’Miyah Canto, Tom-
my Hawkins, Jr., Caleb Thomas, Ashton Martin, Sai Alexander and Summer Alexander; four great-
great-grandchildren, Tijuana Loving, Nakierre Loving, Alexus Loving, and Alissa Loving; four
nieces, Elizabeth (Samuel) Mitchell, Cynthia Watson, Rowena Gordon and Carrie Gordon; three
nephews, Calvin (Gloria) Summerville, Bobby Watson and Anthony Smith; and a host of great-
nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
