Obituary for William Thomas Millan

On September 4, 1946, William Milan was born to James
A. Bones and Lula Mae Milan in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Wil-
liam gave his life to the Lord at an early age and attended
New Zion Church.
William graduated from West End High School. William
then came to Chicago, IL, and worked for Dearborn Glass
Company. William was drafted by the US Army to serve his
country shortly after arriving in Chicago. Once his service
was complete, he returned to Chicago and worked for W F
Hall Printing Company as a Lithographer for 14 years. Af-
ter leaving W F Hall, he worked for Alden's Press Company
as a journeyman until he retired.
William would meet the love of his life Lillian Milan in Chicago, and they were married for 53
years. They would conceive five children. David, Tamela, William, Sonya & Rashad. He would
also be instrumental in helping raise his grandchildren as well.
William loved his Old Westerns, sports, and especially the heat of the night; it reminded him
of his hometown. William so loved his family and the church. William was a deacon and
Bethlehem for many years until his health declined. As an Army Veteran, he also loved to
show off his Army gear; He was well respected in his community and was often referred to as
Big Will.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, all but one sister, and son. He leaves to
cherish his memory his wife Lillian Milan, sister Verdell Chandler, children Tamela (Ernest) Al-
exander, William (Cherrie) Milan, Sonya (Chris) Crawford, Rashad (Erica) Milan, and Devona
(Drexel) LeBlanc, also 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He took great care of
Fiondra Boulrece and Tamara Wolf. Also, he leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, and
a special friend Vernell Strong.
