Obituary for Willie Mae Hinton

Miss. Willie Mae Macon Hinton was born in Gainesville,
Alabama on December 8, 1922. She was the twelfth child
out of thirteen born to Lucinda and Emanuel Hatter.
Willie Mae came to Chicago in 1945, where she met and
fell in love with Rufus Wright. Their bond produced three
children Darnell, Sandra and Shirley.

desired more of an understanding and revelation of her
Savior Jesus Christ. And before her homecoming she had
fulfilled in dedicating her life to Christ.
The consummate storyteller, Willie Mae brought joy to
many with her colorful and delightful stories.
Willie Mae had a saying; “Trying to get a 100, because
99 just won’t do” and that was to instill in her children
and everyone she met, to be the best you can be 100%.
Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memories; Son, Darnell
Wright; daughters, Sandra Hurns and Shirley Hinton;
three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two
brothers; four sisters; and a host of beloved nephews and
nieces.
