Obituary for Willie Turner Sr.

Willie J Turner was born March 30, 1943 in Yazoo, Mississippi to Viola and Jack Turner who both
preceded him in death. One brother, Lee Curtis Turner and a son, Robert Turner also preceded Willie
in death.
Willie confessed his life at an early age as a Catholic Christian. He grew up in Greenville, Mississippi
where he received his education. He later arrived to share his life with his beautiful wife in Chicago,
Illinois where he became a member of Rock of Ages Church in Maywood, Illinois.
Willie met Bobbie Clark and was happily joined in matrimony for 58 years. To this union six children
were born, three girls and three boys; Phyliss, Harold, Robert, Valerie, Eddie Mae and Shun.
Willie worked several jobs before finding his heart at General Motors. There he continued his employ-
ment, being promoted several times 38 years before retiring in 2005.
Willie (aka) Bill/Bobo was a very loving, humble, giving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and
friend. His arms were always open and he put a smile on the face of everyone who crossed his path.
His passions were football and baseball, where he played on a professional softball team (Blue Jays).
A man of God who never closed doors to anyone, Willie provided food and shelter for many. He was
known throughout his neighborhood as Pops and Mr. T. He was a strong man who never complained.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: A beautiful loving wife, Bobbie Turner; five children, Phyliss,
Harold, Valerie, Eddie Mae (Elliott) and Shun; one sister, Veola Crayton; one brother, Clayton
(Gwendolyn) Turner; eight grandchildren, La’Shaunda, La’Sheena, Keeona, Elliott Jr., Darrell Jr., Elise,
Elante' and Chrishun; five sisters-in-law, Doris Crockett, Gwendolyn Turner, Constance Bryant, Mae
Turner and Annie Mae Clark; two brothers-in-law, John Crockett and Leroy Clark; fourteen great-
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and loved ones
